Ingredients
  

Dinner rolls
  • 12 dinner rolls slice in half horizontally
Roast beef and cheese
  • 1 lb thinly sliced deli roast beef
  • 8 slice provolone cheese use 8 slices
Butter topping
  • 1 4 cup unsalted butter, melted melted (use 1/4 cup)
Flavoring
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried onion flakes
Au jus
  • 2 cup beef broth for au jus

Method
 

Bake the roll base
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F, then place the bottom halves of the rolls in a baking dish in an even layer.
  2. Add a layer of thinly sliced roast beef and top with provolone cheese slices evenly over the rolls.
  3. Place the remaining roll halves over the filling, stacking to cover the cheese.
Make the butter topping
  1. Whisk the melted butter with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and dried onion flakes, then brush the mixture over the tops.
Bake and serve
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350°F until the tops are golden and the cheese is fully melted.
  2. Warm the beef broth until hot, then serve alongside the squares for dipping as au jus.

Notes

Pro tip: Slice all rolls in one continuous piece for easier assembly, then separate them after baking. Refrigerate leftovers in a covered container up to 3 days; rewarm in the oven at 300°F until hot. Freeze baked squares for up to 2 months (freeze without au jus), then reheat until warmed through. For a lighter version, use reduced-fat provolone while keeping the butter topping the same for proper browning.
