Prep and cook the beef base
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
- Brown the ground beef with the diced onion and minced garlic in a skillet, then drain excess fat.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until softened.
Make the creamy sauce and assemble
- Stir in the beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and Worcestershire sauce until the mixture is smooth.
- Fold in the cooked egg noodles and mix well so the noodles are evenly coated with sauce.
- Transfer the mixture to the baking dish.
Bake and finish
- Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
For a less greasy sauce, don’t skip draining excess beef fat after browning. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven or microwave until hot. Freezing is not recommended because the sour cream sauce may separate after thawing. For a dietary swap, use reduced-fat sour cream to lower calories while keeping the casserole creamy.
