Method
Build the taco dip layers
- Spread the refried beans in a serving dish in an even layer to cover the bottom completely.
- Mix the mashed avocados with the taco seasoning until well combined, then layer it on top of the beans.
- Add the salsa and sprinkle the shredded cheddar over the avocado layer so the top looks evenly coated.
Create the spider web
- Pipe sour cream circles over the cheddar layer in a tight, even pattern.
- Drag a toothpick through the sour cream from the center outward to form spider-web lines, making sure the lines radiate clearly.
- Place a black olive spider in the center as the final garnish.
Chill to set the layers
- Chill the dip for 1 hour so the layers set and the spider web holds its shape.
Notes
Chill 1 hour before serving so the beans, guacamole, and cheddar don’t slide and the sour cream web stays crisp-looking. Store covered in the refrigerator up to 3 days; freeze not recommended because the avocado and sour cream texture changes. For a lighter option, use reduced-fat sour cream and reduced-fat cheddar.
