Ingredients

Waffle cone cups
  • 12 waffle cone cups Use individual cups for easy dipping.
Chocolate base
  • 2 cup white or milk chocolate melts Melt until smooth for clean rim coating.
Rainbow coating
  • 1 cup rainbow sprinkles Roll immediately so the sprinkles stick to the wet chocolate.
Optional color
  • 1 Food coloring (optional, for tinting chocolate) Use only if you want tinted chocolate for each batch.

Equipment

  • 1 microwave-safe bowl
  • 1 parchment paper

Method

Melt and tint the chocolate
  1. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in short 20-second bursts, stirring between each, until fully smooth and glossy (about 1 to 2 minutes total).
  2. If using food coloring to tint different batches, divide the melted chocolate and tint each portion with the desired color intensity.
Dip and coat
  1. Dip the rim of each waffle cup into the melted chocolate, turning to coat evenly.
  2. Immediately roll the dipped rim in rainbow sprinkles so the topping adheres before the chocolate sets.
  3. Place the dipped cups on parchment paper with the coated rims up.
Set before filling
  1. Let the chocolate set completely at room temperature for about 20 minutes, or refrigerate to speed up until firm.

Notes

Pro tip: keep only one cup style of chocolate coating active at a time—work in small batches so the chocolate stays fluid and the sprinkles adhere cleanly. Store assembled, unfilled cups in the fridge for up to 2 days; for best texture, fill right before serving. Freezing is not recommended because sprinkles and waffle will soften after thawing. Dietary swap: use dairy-free chocolate melts if you want a dairy-free version while keeping the same dipping method.
