Ingredients

frozen crinkle-cut fries
  • 1 bag frozen crinkle-cut fries Frozen
shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
cooked, crumbled ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked, crumbled ground beef Cooked
taco seasoning
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning
sour cream
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
jalapeños
  • 0.25 cup jalapeños sliced
diced tomatoes
  • 0.25 cup diced tomatoes
green onions
  • 0.25 cup green onions chopped
Golden queso sauce
  • 1 Golden queso sauce, for drizzling Use as needed

Equipment

  • 1 sheet pan

Method

Bake the fries
  1. Bake the frozen crinkle-cut fries according to package directions until golden and crispy. Spread them in a single layer on a sheet pan so the edges turn crisp (aim for crisp, browned spots).
Season the beef
  1. Toss the cooked crumbled ground beef with taco seasoning and a splash of water, then simmer until slightly saucy. You should see the beef coating look thicker and glossy, not watery.
Melt the cheese
  1. Layer the hot fries on a serving platter and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese. Keep the fries hot so the cheese starts to soften immediately.
  2. Return to the oven for 5 to 7 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Look for a lightly browned, bubbling top and fully melted shreds.
Load and finish
  1. Top with the seasoned beef, sour cream, jalapeños, diced tomatoes, and green onions. Distribute toppings evenly so every forkful has cheese, meat, and crunch.
  2. Drizzle with warm golden queso sauce and serve immediately. Add the drizzle last so it stays glossy and doesn’t soak in.

Notes

Pro tip: for extra crisp fries, keep them spread out and avoid piling toppings on until the cheese is melted. Refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container up to 3 days; reheat in a hot oven or air-fryer to restore crunch (microwave can soften fries). Freezing isn’t recommended because fries lose texture. For a lighter option, use reduced-fat cheddar and light sour cream—still melty and saucy.
